New York Travels; Behind the Scenes + Touristing/Food-marathon

We recently returned from a 5 day whirlwind trip to New York. We were out there for a mix of business, visiting a dear friend, epic photoshoot, cliche touristing and stuffing our faces with all the foods. Because we can't help travel via eating. And it doesn't matter where we are for business we will fit in the fun.

Day 1:  Was sunny and warm. Which we weren't prepared for, but worked out for the best since we had planned a shoot outdoors in the DUMBO, Brooklyn area. We kicked things off with makeup and hair being done at our hotel, The Wyndham Midtown 45 (which we highly recommend!). The amazing Norah Salazar was our makeup and hair stylist who we are dying to work with again! She was a blast and of course is a killer H/MUA.

Not to mention our model was Whitney from Wilhelmina, who was the sweetest! And laughed at our nerd-tastic shenanigans :) What can we say, we will do anything to make life fun on set! Whitney absolutely killed it and we can't wait to blog all the images from our menswear inspired shoot.

In the above image you will find Milan holding 'Stew' as we fondly call him aka, the pop-up tent for wardrobe changes. Stew, can be a little warm inside, hence the name, but we do love him so.

Whitney, you're awesome. Thanks for putting up with our lame jokes. Which looks like we bombarded you with right here.

Following the shoot we went to the legendary Peter Luger's steakhouse. The old school traditional steakhouse matched with our blunt yet charming 60 year old waiter made for an epic experience.

Day 2: We had a meeting we had been looking forward to with David Yurman, and then after that we hit the town. And by hit the town we mean, we went to 2nd Ave Deli and filled up on classic Jewish deli fare. Followed by aimless wandering and ending up at Rockefeller Center, which looked a lot smaller in person than it does on tv. We were thrilled none the less.

Day 3: On the last full day of our trip we headed out to the Lower East Side to Russ & Daughters and all (Shannon) my NYC brunch fantasies were made reality. It gave us the energy we needed to hop on the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. We waved at her and gave her our love, and then got back on the next ferry back to Manhattan to hit up One World Trade.

The view and experience of going to the brand new One World Trade center building is worth every penny.

A trip to New York just isn't complete with out getting a hot dog and fruit drink at Gray's Papaya. We're fans of adding chili and cheese to the dog. I opted for the pineapple drink and Milan went for the coconut champagne. Both were winners.

The dogs were epic, but I did make sure to save room for cookies from Levain Bakery. I decided 3 cookies were needed to sample a few flavors. All were fresh and hot out of the oven. We then strolled over to Central Park near Strawberry Fields to sit and eat our $12 bag o' happiness.

We always love our time in New York. There is so much energy to the city and we fell in love with it instantly. We can't wait to visit again, travel for business, you name it. We LOVE NY.
